Working with my good friend Jenny from Savvy Stitches has been so much fun. I'm always eager to photograph her new items. Recently I was able to photograph two of her own showing off her newest creations. For more info check out her Etsy store.

I have loved photographing these boys over the last several years and was thrilled when baby boy number four came along last September. With one boy, I can't imagine having four but their mom is one awesome and amazing lady. We did this session at the end of March on a beautiful spring afternoon.
Check out the necktie onesie. I wish I could've found these when Hayden was a baby. The onesie and the neckties were made by Savvy Stitches. Be sure to check out the new Etsy site.
As you know my friend Jenny who owns Savvy Stitches has put together an amazing spring line for little girls. And now she has neckties for your little and also big boys. Be sure to visit her new Etsy site to outfit your little ones for spring and Easter.
Hayden modeled a couple of the ties for me on Monday. Can I just say how much I'm loving this weather? This was my third outdoor session this month!
This navy one with teal and yellow pairs well with the navy-coral-teal dress collection. Just think how cute this could be for a brother/sister portrait session!
These ties are so perfect because at his age it's harder to find grown up looking clip-on ties. Of course adult ties are way too long for him. The great thing is that Jenny can also make Daddy a tie to match. If your little guy isn't crazy about a tie, she can add one to a onesie or t-shirt as an applique.
I have been beyond excited to blog about my photoshoot with Savvy Stitches. It was one of the most crazy and fantastic shoots I've ever done. I had prayed (literally) in the days before that we would be blessed with decent weather so we could do the pictures outside. We totally lucked out as it was about 50 degrees that afternoon and sunny. Who would have ever thought we could photograph spring outfits outside in February?
I wasn't exactly sure what all we could use or need as props, but I filled my car with just about anything I thought that might work. Jenny had shown me the location earlier, so I had an idea of what I wanted to do but wasn't sure if it would work out like I wanted it to. But it did--even better than I could have imagined!
We had five of the most precious little girls to photograph in about an hour with multiple outfit changes. To say they were awesome is an understatement. A big thank you to the girls, Jenny and her mom and sister and friend who were a huge help that day.
To purchase any of these outfits, visit the Savvy Stitches website and they will also be available to purchase on the Hoplet House website too.
As I started taking the group shots, Jenny and her sister and a friend of hers were all behind me, jumping, dancing, and doing just about anything to get the girls to smile and look my direction.
Then I told them to just look at each other.
Then I told them to hug. Oh my this is one of my all time favorite portraits. I've already ordered a copy for my office.
Jenny was worried the youngest girls might not cooperate, but they did awesome.
Aren't her curls to die for?
Sisters.
Even though the colors were beautiful, I couldn't resist doing a couple in black and white.
I have a love for chairs, pretty much any kind and the older the better. I knew I wanted a bright green chair to use for spring sessions and just to have something new. I visited the Peddler's Mall here in Lexington on Sunday before the session and found this chair which was perfect, except it was purple. I found the perfect color of paint and painted it on Monday. I brought it along and hoped to use it but had no idea how perfect it would match the outfits Jenny had made.
I've had this bucket for a while but haven't gotten to use it much. It's an old ice-cream bucket, which I bought from my aunt and uncle who are antique dealers. I loved it the minute I saw it mostly because of the color. Again, I had no idea it would match the outfits so well. Totally lucky I guess.
Jenny's mom was also along and had made matching necklace's for the outfits. Beautiful.
Jenny said this dress passed the twirl test.
Another beautiful necklace.
I just had to use my new blog boards for a couple of groupings. Love these!
I know I've said it a hundred times before, but I'm going to say it again. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE photographing babies during their first year. I'm always a little sad when their one-year session rolls around because I know I won't be seeing them nearly as often as I did in that first year. But I'm always happy when I look back through all of their pictures and realize how much fun it was capturing all of those special moments.
Camden's one-year session was so much fun. He has been an all-star for each of his sessions and he did not disappoint this time either.
I have a few stores that I think I could stay in for a week at a time. Party City is one of them, which is where I found this cute balloon weight.
I just got these new blog templates and was so excited to use them. I am so hoping the company will come out with storyboards like these too so they can be printed and framed for clients.
The cake smash always looks great in a collage.
If you are looking for really unique clothing and other items for your little one, take a few minutes and check out Hoplet House Boutique. Savvy-Stitches, owned by my friend Jenny, is one of the brands offered. I'm so thrilled for this opportunity for her and was so happy to do the pictures for her amazing dresses, onesies and pennant banners.
Jenny has more dresses and other outfits coming soon. We were blessed with great weather yesterday did an outdoor shoot featuring her new patterns. Here's a little sneak peek!
It's been so great photographing Alex for the past year. His one year session was delayed a couple times, but we finally got it done.
Go Cats!
Such a big boy.
The necktie onesie and matching pennant banner was made by Jenny Gilbert of Savvy-Stitches.
Time for cake!
Yum!
More please.
He had so many cute expressions, so I had to create a couple of collages.
Three years ago I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Carrie and Todd in Nicholasville. Almost three years to the day I was lucky enough to photograph their little man, Logan. We had his session scheduled within the first week of his arrival, but a few things changed our plans so he was almost two weeks old for his session. He started out awake but in no time mom was able to get him to sleep.
I don't know why but the the top of the head is always one of my favorite baby shots.
One of my favorites. Those hands never stay that little for long.
Carrie and Todd love all things country. I loved using the hat and boots, which I'm sure he'll be rockin' in no time!
This Carhart cap was too cute! This is one of my favorite baby pics EVER!!
Love the close up in black and white.
10x30 collage.
20x20 or 30x30 collage.
I wanted to repost some information and updated pricing for spring sessions. These sessions are already starting to book pretty fast, and because of my wedding and travel schedule in April, there are only a few openings left that month. Don't forget that I will be starting sessions in March this year, weather permitting. These will be more urban and street settings and will be done in downtown Lexington, Midway, Georgetown and Frankfort.
Sessions in April will include the urban settings too but will also include sessions at the Waveland Estate and the gardens at the Lexington Cemetery and other beautiful locations in and around the Lexington area. Also, if you would like to book a session at the Bodley-Bullock House in April or May or even later in the summer, please let me know as soon as possible so I can check availability. This house is amazing and has a beautiful garden area. These sessions do require an additional $50 for the session deposit.
I've added updated pricing info on the website and have included special pricing for spring sessions below. A session deposit of $75 is due at time of session and will be applied toward your order of $125 or more.
And since no blog post should be without a picture, here's one of my favorites from last year.
I am so thrilled to be hosting an open house on Saturday, February 25 from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. with my dear friend, Jenny Gilbert, owner of Savvy-Stitches. This will be a great opportunity for you to see some beautiful dresses for little girls and also see Jenny's new outfits for spring. She will also have onesies, pennant banners, hooded towels, and a few other items. Jenny is so talented, and I'm excited for everyone to see her work. I've included several pictures below of items she's made. Check out her website and be sure to like Savvy-Stitches (Frankfort, KY) on Facebook to stay up to date on new items.
This will also be the perfect time to see some of the new items I'm offering this year like the accordion mini albums, new collage designs, hardcover albums, ceramic tiles, and more. There will be doorprize drawings, and anyone attending will be eligible for discounts on packages for spring and summer sessions. Anyone purchasing an item from Jenny will get an extra discount on a portrait session.
These necktie onesies are so adorable and make for great photos. The matching pennant banner would be a wonderful accessory for a first birthday party.
Long-sleeve t-shirts and onesies can be personalized with initials and other designs. Love these little boy colors.
And how adorable is this for a little girl?!
A little baby girl look will look so super cute in this onesie with a matching pennant banner at her first birthday party!
Do you have a little chef at home? I'm sure she'd love one of these personalized aprons.
Pink and green is one of my favorite color combinations for little girls. Love, love this pennant banner!
Here's the front and back of one of the dresses Jenny has made. I would be in so much trouble if I had a little girl!
She even makes accessories!
How perfect if you have a big girl and a little girl! I love these dresses because they match but aren't exactly alike. Can I say it again? Love, love!!
This outfit with the ruffled pants is just precious!
I hope you will join us for a fun open house. Feel free to contact me at lcollins1974@insightbb.com with any questions. Hope to see you on February 25th!
I'm a photographer located in Lexington, Kentucky.
