The Royal Wedding

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited about the royal wedding tomorrow. I remember when I was six years old and my mom awoke me super early that July morning to watch the wedding of Charles and Diana. Since that moment, I've always been interested in the royal family.

I'm so excited to see Kate's dress. I doubt that it will be anything like what Diana wore, but I'm sure she'll be absolutely stunning. The other thing I'm excited about are the photos. I cannot even imagine being the photographer for this wedding. The official photographer is Hugo Burnand, and he's no stranger to the royal family. I read where a few were surprised they didn't choose Mario Testino, since he did their engagement portraits, one of which will appear on the wedding program.

It's now less than 24 hours to the big day! The countdown is on....

Hayden

I know I'm not the only one who is sick of the rain, not to mention the constant thunderstorm and even tornado watches and warnings. Really, enough already! Between the rain and baseball practice, I wasn't even sure I'd get any pictures of Hayden before Easter. I got lucky with nice weather on a Thursday afternoon. I took his clothes with me when I picked him up from school and had him change in the car. We only had about an hour since he had to be at baseball practice at 6:00 p.m.

 

This is definitely one of my favorites and will be going in a frame in the living room.

 

He did his own poses, and I loved this one. 

 

 

Before we left, he took my camera and took his own pictures. I loved seeing how excited he was about taking pictures of the flowers. Like mother, like son!

 

He said the orange flowers looked like lava.

 

 

 

 

Sydney--Class of 2012

To say that I love senior photography would be a huge understatement. I love everything about it, but one of my favorite things is getting to shoot in fun and different locations. I've been wanting to try out a few new locations, and Sydney was awesome enough to model for me. Just a little background...Sydney's mom, Tonya, and I went to high school together. Looking through the camera at Sydney was just like looking at Tonya. I was suddenly having flashbacks of homeroom and cooking in home ec class!

Cousins

These four kiddos are cousins and as you can tell from the pictures, they LOVE being together. It was a lot more fun for them to laugh, giggle and play than to pose for pictures. Actually I gave up "posing" kids for pictures a long time ago if they don't want to be posed. One of the best pieces of advice I've ever read about children's photography is to just let them have fun.

We started out by playing on the train. I've photographed this little guy several times, and his mom said she thinks it's the best picture I've ever taken of him. He was playing with his cousins and he stopped for just a second, which was just what I needed to get this one.

 

His little brother was having fun too!

 

We then went over to these steps, where they all got a serious case of the giggles. Look how much fun they were having. I love how these turned out.

 

 

 

 

This little guy was hilarious and kept saying, "I gotta' get a foo foo." I crack up every time I think about him saying it and couldn't help but laugh when I was editing this one.

 

More often than not kids will do one cute thing once and that's it. That's what happened when she put her hands behind her and bent down and gave this look. Sometimes I'm lucky and get it and sometimes I don't. Luck was on my side that night because I snapped it just in time. I loved it too because some of the brick have some paint on them that is the same color of her dress.

 

Her mom said it was her favorite picture of her but wanted to know if I could crop it to be horizontal. I was able to and it changes the whole look of the picture. Her mom loves it even more!

 

I love to get hugging shots when they're little.

Samantha and Jimmy--Engaged!

I had my first engagement session of the year last month on a very windy and sort of cool day. It wasn't exactly the weather I would've ordered, but it was sunny so we made the best of it. Samantha and Jimmy met at the Buell Armory on the UK campus while in the Army ROTC. I loved that they wanted to do the session where they first met. I do believe this was a first for me.

While I waited for them to arrive I took some pictures of the building. I was really pleased with how these turned out.

 

 

 

 

I combined these with pictures of Samantha and Jimmy for a few collages.

 

 

 

Jimmy had access to the armory so we were able to do some pictures inside. I was in love with the flag!

 

 

Samantha is a student at Transy so we finished there and also at Gratz Park.

 

 

I am all about capturing moments like these during an engagement session. Love it!

Teddy Bears

I have loved doing the teddy bear sessions. They were a great way to get through March, which for the most part has been cold, rainy and cloudy. I had a blast doing Parker's session. Seriously, could he be any cuter?

 

He was a crawler, and a fast one too. He gave mom quite a workout. He would crawl away and she'd grab him and put him back. I love this one of him just before he took off again.

 

Here's one in his Easter outfit. Completely adorable!

 

I found this basket a few weeks ago and couldn't wait to put a baby in it.

 

These days all Wildcat fans are this happy!

 

This is hands down of my favorite pictures EVER! I'll definitely have to get a copy of this one for my office.

 

I had a little fun with this collage.

 

Then it was big brother's turn to get in the car.
